Ahead of elections, Shailendra Kumar apptd new J&K CEO

JAMMU: Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state, and amidst the ongoing panchayat polls, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday appointed Shailendra Kumar as J&K Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).

An order issued by secretary at election commission of India BC Patra said that Kumar will replace the incumbent CEO Shaleen Kabra.

It said the ECI in consultation with J&K government nominated Kumar as J&K CEO with effect from the take he assumes the charges until further orders.

“Shailendra Kumar shall cease to hold and handover forthwith the charge of all or any charges of the work under JK government which he may be holding before taking over the charge,” it added.

As J&K CEO, Kumar would not hold any additional charge under the State government except that he should be designated Principal Secretary to the government in charge of Election Department in the State Secretariat.
