Kupwara: DDC reviews plan for Rurban Cluster Model Village Khumriyal

KUPWARA, DECEMBER 07: District Development Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today chaired a meeting regarding finalization of Action Plan 2018-19 under Rurban Cluster Model Village Khumriyal.
The meeting was informed that Rs 60.62 crore will be spend to develop the cluster in such a way that it will preserve and nurture the essence of rural community life with focus on equity and inclusiveness without compromising with the facilities perceived to be essentially urban in nature, thus creating a cluster of “Rurban Villages”.
The DDC said that the objective of the Action Plan is to stimulate local economic development, enhance basic services, and create well planned Rurban clusters to bridge rural-urban divide.
It was given out that in agriculture sector 100 vermi-compost pits will be completed this year and 50 borewells will be constructed for affording timely irrigation besides tools kit worth Rs 4000 will be distributed among farmers besides and 1000 Colonies of bees for commercial beekeeping will be provided to the farmers.
DDC directed the Horticulture department to identify feasible location for plantation on pilot basis of 500 high density walnut trees in the Model Village. He instructed ACD to undertake the levelling and construction of boundary wall of the location.
He directed Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Horticulture officer and Sheep Husbandry Officer to conduct awareness camps in all villages of the cluster so that people are benefitted by the endeavours of government and district administration.
DDC also directed the concerned to construct boundary walls of the schools in convergence with RDD. He suggested CEO that all the schools should be beautified under FDB Programme.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, ACD, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE and I & FC, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and other concerned.

Lok Adalat at Handwara on December 08
HANDWARA, DECEMBER 07: According to chairman Tehsil Legal Services committee Handwara, a Lok Adalat is being held in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority District Kupwara on December 8, 2018 here at local court premises.
During the Lok Adalat the cases of various natures including Criminal, Bank cases, civil disputes, Matrimonial, Electricity and water bills, Revenue and other cases will be settled on the spot.
The interested parties/advocates, litigants who want to get their cases/disputes settled through this Lok Adalat shall approach court authorities for listing their cases.

LMD fines Dhaba for overcharging
SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 07: Acting on the complaint lodged by a tourist via e-mail on INGRAM consumer portal against a Dhaba in the Boulevard area, Legal Metrology Department today penalized the owner for overcharging on bottled water.
The MRP printed on the bottle was Rs 20/- and the Dhaba charged him Rs 25/- The challan was made out against the Dhaba for violating Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011 and was accordingly penalised.
Hotels and restaurants can charge more than MRP printed on the beverages and bottled water as they are providing service and ambience to its customers. However, there cannot be dual MRP`s on the identical packages meant for same city/state. This exemption is not allowed on Dhabas.
