Dir Horticulture reviews working of MIDH scheme in Shopian

SHOPIAN, DECEMBER 06: Director Horticulture Kashmir, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri today visited industrial estate Gagren Shopian wherein he inspected food processing units and also took stock of working of Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme in the district.
A team of senior officials including Joint Director Horticulture, L B Bali, Chief Canning Officer (CCI) Vikas Anand, Executive Engineer Horticulture Marketing and Planning, Rafiq Ahmad Rafiq, Chief Horticulture Officer Shopian, Abdul Hameed and several other officials accompanied the Director.
The team visited the estate and invited young and educated entrepreneurs to set up food processing, cardboard and other horticulture sector related units with financial assistance from the horticulture department.
He said that Shopian is famous for its dry and fresh fruits and those who open their units don't have to search for the raw material since there is an abundance of it in the district.
The senior officials accompanying, Qadri also highlighted the benefits of the MIDH scheme and asked the young and educated people to not miss the valuable opportunity.
Meanwhile, horticulture producers and processors association lauded the government's attitude by launching such schemes. Association president Hakim Khalid Ahmad said that "The schemes like MIHD and those availing opportunities for entrepreneurs will help in boosting the horticulture sector and its related units".
