The grenade attack took place in November while the state was on high alert following an input claiming that a group of six to seven JeM militants were in Punjab and were ‘planning’ to move to Delhi.

Army Chief Bipin Rawat had recently warned that attempts were being made to revive insurgency in Punjab and had even cautioned that people needed to be careful especially during the festival season to prevent anti-national forces from succeeding in their nefarious designs.

Earlier in November Musa was spotted in Amritsar along with a few other men after which Punjab police released posters of the militant and sounded high alert in the state.

After the news of Zakir Musa’s presence was flooded in, following the high alert in Punjab issued by the security agencies, agrenade blast took place at Nirankari Bhawan in Amritsar resulting in death of three and injuries to 15 people.
