Thousands join night-long prayers on Friday following Eid-e-Milad

Srinagar, Nov 23: Thousands of people joined night-long prayers on the occasion of Friday following Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Muhammad in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.

Despite chilly weather due to sub zero temperature, people joined the prayers in mosques, shrines, Jamia Masjids and other worship places in the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region.

The main congregation was held at Asar-e-Sharief Hazratbal on the banks of Dal Lake, which houses the Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad.

Devotees, including women and children, had the glimpse of Holy Relic of Prophet Muhammad after Fajr (morning) prayers after night long prayers. Devotees will have the “ Deedar” (glimpse) of the Holy Relic after every prayers today.

The authorities had made all arrangements, including medical, power, water and other facilities for the devotees who had arrived at the shrine from different parts of the valley. Special transport arrangements had been made to bring the devotees to shrine.

Large number of vendors had set up stalls selling eatables, warm clothes besides other articles outside the shrine periphery.

Similar congregations were also organised in other parts of the valley.
