Police cracks hit and run case, arrests driver in Ramban's Batote

Jammu, Nov 19: Police claimed to have solved the hit and run case by arresting a driver in less than 24 hours in Batote area of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir.

"A truck driver was arrested and the vehicle was also seized in hit and run case on Sunday," police said here.

They said that on Sunday night at around 2040 hours an unknown truck hit a person namely Abdul Majid, son of Gulam Mohammad, resident of Ganeter tehsil and district Doda at Chanpa, Batote and after hitting the victim, truck driver ran away from the spot.

Injured victim brought to CHC Batote from where he had been referred to GMC Jammu but on way to Jammu, injured person succumbed due to internal injuries in the abdomen, police added.

After hectic efforts of police headed by SHO Batote Insp Nazir Ahmed and assisted by SI Sumeet Sharma and ASI Harnam Singh police succeeded in tracing out truck involved in the accident and accused driver namely Mangal Dass, resident of Nai Basti, Satwari was arrested while a case has been registered.
