Rath’s thanksgiving bombshell; praises Vaid, hits at former DGP Rajindra, PHQ

JAMMU: Even as his posting as Inspector General Traffic remained controversial for reasons more than one, Basant Rath does not seem like leaving the limelight even after his transfer, as a ‘thanks-giving’ letter written by the IPS officer has created ripples in society as general and Police department in particular.
Rath who was transferred on November 13 took to Facebook for posting his thanks-giving letter, the screengrab of which he shared on other social media networks as well.
In his letter, Raththanked some police officers for their support and backing, and at the same time accused others of trying to dislodging him on various grounds.
His post has, however, now-a-days, become the matter of whispering in police circle.
On one hand, Rathshowered praise on former DGP SP Vaid (now Transport Commissioner) for his support and backing, while hit at former DGP K.Rajindera, besides present system of functioning in PHQ over dislodging him.
“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s thanksgiving time for me. I’ve handed over the charge of IG, Traffic to my successor. I wish him the best.
“Without VaidSa’ab, I won’t have been able to put a team of officers of my choice. Without his backing, I wouldn’t have got this job. Without his support, I won’t have been able to do things my way.
“S.D.S. Jamwal Sir is a sweetheart. I owe him my Poonch posting (before I came as SSP Jammu),” Rath showered praises.
“K. Rajendra tried his best to dislodge me. S. D. Sir put his foot down. He got me as his DIG as well and gave me a lot of space. Had any other IPS guy been IG, Jammu in his place, I won’t have been able to deliver,” he said.
“Swayam is a brother. He kept his resources at my disposal. In Kashmir.Basheer Khan Sir, a big thank you for those frequent meetings in your Divisional Commissioner office. And those phone calls to your officers,” he added and thanked a number of other officers as well.
“I’m lucky that I got a chance to work with Tahir GillaniSa’ab, Muzaffar Sa’ab, RaiesSa’ab, Farooq Sa’ab and Sajjad Sa’ab.Thank you, Nisha Ma’am, Joginder Sa’ab, Shakti Sa’ab, Mushtaq Sa’ab, Sunny, Dheeraj, Raj Paul and Rajinder Kaur Ma’am.
“Thank you, my most important constituency, the youth of J and K, for your trust and affection,” Rath wrote.
“I’ll be here. In J and K. Till 2032. And beyond. No deputation for me. Delhi is too polluted”, his post read.
