Fire at govt school in Kupwara
Srinagar, Nov 19: A government Higher Secondary School (HSS) was gutted in mysterious fire in Kupwara, where two panchayat ghars were allegedly set ablaze by miscreants during the past two days, official sources said.
They said fire broke out in HSS at Hatmullah, Kupwara in north Kashmir on Sunday night. Fire tenders were rushed from different areas to control the leaping flames visible from a distance, eyewitnesses said.
They said people from nearby areas also joined the fire fighting operation before the fire tenders could reach.
The school building was damaged, they said. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered investigation started.
On Friday and Saturday, miscreants set on fire two panchayat ghars at village Laderan and Nutnusa in Kupwara, where 72 per cent polling was recorded in the November 17 panchayat polls.
