Criminals loot Rs 50 lakh from cash van of nationalised bank

Patiala, Nov 14 : Two unidentified armed criminals looted Rs 50 lakh from the cash van of a nationalised bank after shooting security guard in Nabha in this district of Punjab on Wednesday morning.

The security guard later succumbed to injuries.

Eyewitnesses said that assailants were waiting for the cash van carrying Rs 50 lakhs for the branch.

When bank staff, including Gunman Prem Chand, reached along with cash and were about to enter the branch, one of the criminal held the gunman and another opened fire on him. Both criminals looted the cash and fled the scene.

Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu has reached the spot and started investigations.
