CUK suspend classes till Friday to prevent protests

Srinagar, Nov 13: The Central University Kashmir (CUK) has on Tuesday announced suspension of classes in the Nowgam campus as a precautionary measure to prevent protests by students who are demanding release of their two varsity mates arrested last week.

A spokesman of the CUK said classwork of all departments in two Nowgam campuses will remain suspended for three days from tomorrow.

However, the Ganderbal campuses will function normally, he added.

The students of Nowgam campuses held a protest demonstration at Press Enclave near here demanding release of two varsity students. Describing them as innocent, the protesting students alleged that they are being framed in false charges as militants.

The students on November 11 disrupted traffic on bypass demanding the release of arrested students.

Security forces have arrested two students of political science department , Suhail Ahmad from Shopian in south Kashmir and Ismail from Baramulla last week.
