SRINAGAR: A Pakistani militant of Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) terror outfit was killed in a brief shootout, after the ultras attacked a security forces party in Handwara area of Kupwara district of the north Kashmir on Sunday.
Today in the afternoon hours, a terrorist while moving through Handwara was intercepted by a naka party of security forces near Chattipora in the jurisdiction of police station Handwara which led to a brief exchange of gunfire.
Police said, the security forces retaliated and in the shootout, an ultra was killed and arms and ammunition were recovered from him.
“On the basis of the incriminating materials recovered from the killed terrorist, he has been identified as Ishtiyaaq from Pakistan who was affiliated with proscribed terror outfit JeM,” it said.
“He was involved in a series of terror attacks on security establishments and many other civilian atrocities in the area.
“Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter,” it said.
