Sisters celebrate bond of relationship on 'Bhai Dooj' in Jammu's Kot Bhalwal Central Jail

Jammu, Nov 10: It was festivity like atmosphere within closed walls of Central Jail Kot Bhalwal here on city outskirts.

Earlier the inmates of Kot Bhalwal Central Jail remained occupied in making handmade 'Roshni' candles on the occassion of Diwali but on Friday they had different reason to celebrate and smile with moist eyes.

The scene inside the premises got emotional on Friday when sisters visited to their brothers lodged in jail to celebrate 'Bhai Dooj', the festival--marks bond of pious brother-sister relationship.

"Though it was "Mulakaat Din" (meeting day) on Friday and many women visited to the jail to celebrate 'bhai dooj'," Rajni Sehgal, Superintendent Jail here told TNN.

She said that instead of allowing the visitors one by one to meet their relatives, a small get together was organised inside where everyone was made to assemble and celebrate the festival.

"The ladies performed the rituals of 'bhai dooj' by offering prayers, applying vermilion (Tikka) to their brothers and sweets," said the jailer.

She said that festive and emotional mood gripped the jail premises.

"Nearly 50 women visited to the jail to celebrate the festival," she added and said that the jail authorities made all arrangements for the celebrations.
