Battery of J&K coaches to attend sports programme in New Delhi
Jammu, Oct 21: A battery of nearly 20 coaches on Saturday will be attending a week long specialised programme on sports in the national capital from October 22.
The batch of coaches was flagged off by the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Dr SD Singh Jamwal and Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
The coaches from Jammu Segment will be attending a week long leadership through sports programme at New Delhi, which is an initiative of the Central University of Jammu, a project in joint collaboration with University of Ball, USA and the Sports Programme is being funded by the Department of State USA.
In all, 20 coaches from J&K, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh comprising at least 10 women are among the participants.
Co-chairman, Central University of Jammu Sports Advisory Committee Ranjeet Kalra welcomed the guests and highlighted the various aims and objectives of the Sports Leadership Program.
Prof Aima while thanking the University of Ball, Muncie, USA and US State Department hoped that the Programme would be of immense help to the coaches from J&K and shall intimately benefit the players.
Dr Jamwal termed the programme a golden opportunity as it would not only enhance their sporting acumen but also give them an opportunity to learn newer skills to train the specially abled players.
He appreciated the efforts of VC CUJ Prof Aims and Co Chairman Ranjeet Kalra and the CUJ team for taking a lead in Augmenting competitive sports culture in the state.
Senior coach and official of SAI, Aman Sharma, has been designated as the leader of the group.
