ULB elections: BJP opens account in SMC

Srinagar, Oct 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) opened its account in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) when its candidate secured eight out of nine votes polled in a ward during the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) elections.

The counting of votes started on Saturday and a BJP candidate, who was not identified, won by seven votes from Bagh-e-Mehtab ward in the uptown.

Out of the nine votes, BJP candidate bagged eight votes. Polling for the ward was held during the first phase of ULB polls.

For the SMC, the counting is being held in S K International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
