Jammu, Oct 20: The Principal Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring Department (PD&MD) Rohit Kansal on Friday said that the Civil Secretariats at Jammu and Srinagar will have separate dedicated WiFi facilities from the next Darbar Move.

While chairing a high-level meeting here at the Civil Secretariat in Jammu, to take a comprehensive review of the arrangements for the bi-annual Durbar Move reopening on November 5, Mr Kansal directed the IT Department to install computers in each department at the Civil Secretariat Jammu.

Mr Kansal asked for the installation to be undertaken well before the opening of the offices to avoid wear and tear during physical transportation of computers with the bi-annual Durbar Move.

IT further informed that from the next Durbar Move, the WiFi and the networking equipment won’t be shifted as the Civil Secretariat in Jammu and Srinagar shall be provided with dedicated WiFi facilities.

The Principal Secretary directed the IT department to ensure that the LAN and internet connections in Jammu Secretariat are fully functional by the time the move offices reopen here.

The meeting also saw a discussion upon security arrangements at the Secretariat and the residential quarters for moving employees in detail.

A request for the requirement of security bunkers at the Civil Secretariat, especially New Assembly Hall building by the security officials, was accepted by the Principal Secretary.

Mr Kansal directed the officers from the Estates to ensure adequate arrangements for the ferrying of official records and transportation of employees and said that to avoid congestion at the highway, only one-way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar should be allowed during these five days.

The Principal Secretary asked the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department to issue temporary ration cards and gas connections to the moving employees for their Jammu stay and to ensure a timely supply of ration, while also directing the concerned departments to ensure complete sanitation, availability of electricity and potable drinking water in all residential colonies of the employees moving to Jammu.

He also said that the employees moving to Jammu should be provided new ration cards after they furnish their official identity card along with a self-declaration regarding the number of family members.
