Srinagar, Oct 19: Traffic was on Friday again suspended on 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway, the only road linking Ladakh region with Kashmir, due to slippery road conditions following fresh snowfall.

However, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway (NH) and historic Mughal road are open with some restrictions on traffic movement.

"We have suspended traffic movement on the Srinagar-Leh national highway due to slippery road conditions following fresh snowfall last night at different places, including Zojila pass and Meenmarg," traffic police official told TNN.

He said the road is slippery so no vehicle was allowed from either side of Zojila.

"We are monitoring the road condition," he said, adding traffic will be resumed only after receiving green signal from the officials posted at different places on the highway.

Meanwhile, the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only all weather road connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, was through for only one-way traffic, he said.

On Friday, traffic will ply from Jammu to Srinagar on Kashmir highway, he said, adding no vehicle will be allowed from the opposite direction.

He said historic 86-km-long Mughal road from Shopian in south Kashmir to Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region was also through for traffic. Light motor vehicles will ply from both sides. However, he said heavy vehicle will ply from Shopian to Jammu.
