Educational institutions in Kashmir remain close in wake of encounter
Srinagar, Oct 11: Several educational institutions including the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipoora remain shut on Thursday in various districts in the Kashmir valley.
The classes were suspended as a precautionary measure in the wake of encounter between militants and security forces during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Hnadwara town of Kupwara district since early this morning. However, the Kashmir University (KU) has so far not suspended classes.
The authorities in district Bandipora have also ordered the closure of all educational institutions. Similar orders were issued by authorities in Baramulla district where Higher Secondary Schools and colleges will remain closed today in Pattan and Sopore.
In summer capital, students who arrived at Kotibagh Girls Higher Secondary School here were seen returning to their homes.
The students said they were informed that there will be no class work hence they can go home.
Reports of suspension of classes in other schools and colleges were received from different parts of Srinagar.
