Srinagar, Sep 21: Islami Tenzeen-e- Azadi (ITeA) chairman Abdul Samad Malla alias Inquilabi was arrested by security forces from his house in north Kashmir's Bandipora district, official sources said.

Inquilabi, who was evading arrest for the past some time, was arrested by a joint search party of security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police from his house at Ganasthan, Bandipora late on Thursday night.

The family members of Inquilabi alleged that security forces raided their houses several times in the past. They alleged that before taking him into custody, security forces ransacked the entire house and harassed the other inmates.

The ITeA chairman was taken to unknown places, they said.

Inquilabi has filed a case in a local court at Bandipora, demanding Rs 10 crore compensation for detaining him without any justification as his detention under Public Safety Act (PSA) was quashed by different courts.
