Petrol pump owners to face punishment for violation of order

BUDGAM: In order to curb the practice of riding two wheelers without helmets and to avert road traffic accidents involving two wheelers, the District Magistrate Budgam, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today directed all petrol pump owners in the territorial jurisdiction of the district Budgam not to provide petrol to two wheelers who are without helmets.
The order issued under the powers vested to DM under section 144 CrPC, announces that petrol pump owner found violating the order shall be liable for punishment under the relevant provisions of law.
The order has been issued in the backdrop of the large number of road accidents mostly involving two wheelers in Budgam.
The DM further instructs SSP Budgam and SSP Traffic Rural to ensure implementation of the order in letter and spirit across the district.
