Mother-daughter among 3 killed in Kathua mishap

KATHUA: In a tragic accident, a mother and her 8- year-old daughter were among three persons killed when a mini-bus hit the motorcycle they were riding at Hiranagar town in Kathua district on Sunday. The driver of the mini-bus has been arrested by the police.
The accident took place on Sunday afternoon when a mini-bus bearing registration number JK02-S-6875 hit a Motorcycle bearing registration number JK08-C8974 at Kattal Gujrian in Sherpura area of Hiranagar town in the district.
"A motorcycle driven by Ram Dass Sangra with two pillion riders was hit by the speedy passenger bus at Kattal chowk in Hiranagar around 12.30 pm," police said, adding the driver of the Matador managed to flee from the spot. An official said the trio were critically injured and were rushed by locals to Hiranagar Sub District Hospital where they were declared brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Ram Dass (51 years) son of Narsingh Dayal of Kootah, Anita Devi (40) wife of Late Sanjay Kumar of Kootah and her daughter Pallavi (8).
Acting swiftly Police team of police station Hiranagar Kathua arrested the erring driver of mini-bus namely Ashok Kumar son of Sardar Chand of Nai Basti Jandi Hiranagar. "A case under relevant sections of the law has been registered against the accused driver," an official said, adding that the bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the mortuary of the district hospital.
