Dragged ultra’s body to avoid booby trap threat: Army Cmdr

JAMMU: Resting the accusations of human rights violation after Army dragged a slain Pakistani terrorist killed in an encounter in Reasi district, South Western Commander on Saturday said that it is a drill for army to drag terrorists’ bodies as they could be booby-trapped.

“The Army personnel dragged bodies of terrorists instead of picking them up as they could be booby-trapped,” South Western Command chief Lt Gen. Cherish Mathson said.

A purported video of soldiers dragging a dead Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist by chains tethered to his legs in Kakriyal forests had gone viral. This followed an encounter in which three terrorists were killed and 12 security personnel injured on Thursday.

"Terrorists tie IEDs (improvised explosive devices) and grenades around their bodies and there is a threat to army men if they pick up the body. It is a drill of the army to drag the body with ropes to save themselves from activated IEDs or other explosives," Mathson said on the sidelines of a press conference in Jaipur.
