DDC convenes Public Meeting for developmental works in Sumbal, Hajin

Srinagar, Sep 15: District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary conducted a comprehensive review of developmental works in Sumbal, Hajin and adjoining villages. Public feedback was also obtained regarding developmental works and gaps.

SSP,SDM Sumbal SE PDD, ACD, ExEN PWD, ExEn PDD and other senior officers attended the meeting. Prominent citizens, representatives of various associations, Lumberdars, heads of Imambaras and others also attended the meeting and presented a detailed feedback on recent developmental interventions.

A number of associations from Shia Community complemented the District Development Commissioner and District Administration for remarkable arrangements made for Muharram which included provision of Inverters, PVC water taken, Sanitary Complexes and high mast lights for Imambaras apart from upgradation of roads, sanitation, drinking water, creation of power stations, provision of water supply and other works.

The DDC discussed with prominent citizens and local representatives about the developmental works initiated in Sumbal and Hajin Tehsils to bridge the basic infrastructural gaps and provide basic facilities to public. He appealed the public for greater participation in development planning and associating with departments for quality execution of works.

A comprehensive review of power supply including distribution network and creation of new substations, water supply, flood protection works, rehabilitation of families from spill channel area, establishment of Library, and availability of essential services and supplies in the sub-division was conducted in the meeting.
District and Sectoral Officers as well as field officers were asked for effective public outreach and involvement of local people in development as well as prompt grievance redressal mechanism. The DDC complemented the officers of PDD, PHE, PWD apart from Sub-Divisional Administration, Nodal Officer and district police for the exemplary coordination and arrangements for Muharram. He informed that teams will be deputed to villages to assess development deficit and consultation with local people for planning of assets in various sectors.

A number of public demands projected by the public and prominent citizens were included in the special development plan. Meanwhile an amount of Rs 30 Lakh was released for power back-up in Imambaras. SSP Sheikh Zulfkar discussed about security arrangements and thanked the local people for their cooperation.
