Varanasi, Sep 15: Hectic preparations are going on for the proposed two-day-long visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his parliamentary constituency from September 17.

Mr Modi will celebrate his 68th birthday on Monday next by offering prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and interacting with the children at Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) and Naruar village, where he is likely to cut his birthday cake on the first day of his visit.

After staying here at night he will address a public meeting at the Amphitheatre in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) apart from taking part in some other programmes.

He may be visiting the city areas and see the development work and the changed face of his parliamentary constituency.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) personnel will take charge of all the venues which the PM is proposed to visit.

Besides on both the days when the PM will be here several Moharram processions will be taken out from different places in the city and maintaining law and order will be a herculean task for the security personnel.

According to information from the district authorities here on Saturday, about 12,000 security personnel, including PAC, CRPF and RAF Commandos and others will be deployed and the SPG team, comprising an IG, 12 senior officers and others have already arrived to make foolproof security arrangements.

As majority roads in the city had been badly damaged during the recent rainy season it will also be a big challenge for the administration to get them repaired to ensure a smooth passage to the PM’s motorcade.

Since Thursday, hectic work was going at Naruar village in the Rohania area where the PM will cut his birthday cake along with the children of a primary school.

The approach road to the village along with the main GT Road was being repaired.

During his inspection, the District Magistrate, Surendra Singh, instructed the officers concerned to paint the walls of the school building in an attractive manner with the messages of Swacch Bharat Mission, the dream project of the PM, written on them.

The Rohania police station in-charge and others were camping there to get the details of all the residents, including their names, mobile phone numbers and other details keeping the security in mind.

According to information, Modi will arrive in the city on September 17 in the afternoon directly from Jammu.

He will first offer prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. There it is also expected that the PM may lay the foundation-stone of the proposed Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor.

This project had seen a lot of protests in the city recently and it is expected, that the PM may instruct the local authorities to complete work before the proposed 15th Pravasi Bharat Diwas conference scheduled to be held here from January 21 to 23, in which a large number of dignitaries from various countries are expected to take part.
