Holds interactive session with Para Asian Gold Medalist -Chandeep Singh

JAMMU: Department of Information and Public Relations today launched “Meet the Achievers” programme here at Auditorium of Media Complex, Rail Head, Jammu.
The said series of programme will feature those Achievers from the state who have earned name and fame in various fields like sports, art, music and alike and is also aimed at to provide the platform for the general public to interact with them on monthly basis.
To begin with, the department invited Golden Book of World Records holder and a lone Para Asian Gold Medalist from the state, S Chandeep Singh who shared his experiences on the tough path he had to traverse to get where he is now.
During an interactive session, the Para Asian Gold Medalist encouraged others to be courageous and always believes in oneself. He said that one must focus on his goals and work hard to achieve them.
Chandeep Singh gives credit to his family and coaches and made a special mention of his idol Flying Sikh Milkha Singh for encouraging and supporting him on his journey towards success.
Chandeep Singh also reveals his aim to win the World Championship for the country. He believes that there is huge potential in our State and motivate others to look at the failures as an opportunity to improve yourself to achieve higher goals.
Students from Government run schools and Residential school for Blinds besides Journalists from various media organizations also interacted with him and took inspiration from his achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar saluted the spirit of Chandeep Singh and said that he is a true inspiration for others. He assured that the District Administration will make available the sporting facilities for the sports persons like him who have the determination to beat all the odds to reach at the top.
Pertinently, Chandeep Singh is a specially-abled boy who lost both his arms at a very tender age in 2011 but didn’t bow down towards the unfortunate incident and took up Roller Skating and Taekwondo and has countless achievements in his name making his parents and State proud.
Recently, under the guidance of Atul Pangotra, Chandeep Singh clinched 2 gold medals for India in the Kimunyong Cup Taekwondo Championship held in Korea.
He has also won gold and bronze medal in Asian Para Taekwondo Championship at Vietnam. He was also selected among Six Heroes of India by India Today. Chandeep Singh was awarded by ‘Pehal Youth Proud Award’ on Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Birthday. He got bronze medal in Seventh All India Roller Skating Championship 2012 Mussoorie, Uttarakhand and won three silver medals in Jammu Gold Cup Roller Skating Championship 2014.
Joint Director Information, Jammu, Naresh Kumar felicitated Chandeep Singh with a shawl and also presented souvenirs to his family members and Coach Madan Khajuria.
Assistant Culture Officer, Jeevan Sharma and artists of Cultural wing enthralled the audience with their motivational song presentation while Malu Sharma conducted the proceedings. A short documentary on the life and achievements of Chandeep Singh were also showcased during the programme.
Deputy Director Information (PR) Jammu, Atul Gupta, Deputy Director Information (HQ), Priyanka Bhat, Deputy Director Information (Central), Avleen Kour, Youth Information Officer Jammu, Imran Kataria, Cultural Officer Jammu, Parul Khajuria,Photo Officer,Ahmed Khan besides other officers and staff members of Information department were present on the occasion.
