ADC Handwara visits hailstorm affected villages in Mawar

KUPWARA: Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Gulzar Ahmad on the directions of District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today conducted an extensive tour of various areas of the Mawar area to assess the damage to crops especially horticultural produce due to recent hailstorms in the area.
The ADC was accompanied by Tehsildar Qalamabad Ghulam Nabi, Officials of Horticulture, Agriculture and other allied sectors besides representatives from concerned departments.
On the occasion, the ADC visited various areas including Qalamabad, Sheikhpora, Haril, Tereena, Tantraygund, Gundrazak, Shatgundbala, Drungsoo and Shahnagri wherein he was apprised that about 10 to 15% of the total production has been affected. He issued on spot directions to the concerned to thoroughly assess the losses caused due to recent strong winds and hailstorms to initiate proper measures towards distress relief and necessary assistance well in time.
Meanwhile, the ADC met several deputations who apprised him about post hailstorm scenario. He assured them that requisite assistance to the affected will be recommended to higher authorities on priority.
