Jammu: Geetika Kohli, an internationally acclaimed writer from Jammu, represented the state as a speaker in ‘LitExperia’, a meta-language disquisition event at India International Centre, New Delhi.

Geetika presented a didactic paper on meta-language in English poetry before esteemed literati consisting of educationists, writers, publishers and scholars including Dr. Santosh Bakaya, Dr. Nandini Sahu, Dr. Ampat Koshy, Sh. Amarendra Khatua, Sh. Shantanu Basu, Dr. Sukrita Paul, Dr. Nandini Sen, Sh. C P Surendran, Ms. Neelam Saxena Chandra and Sh. Sudarshan K Cherry. To quote from her paper, “I cannot do without poetry – it is the holes that I drill into the walls to hang a memory of what I couldn’t sustain; it is the invisible crutch that blesses me with invincible handicaps; poetry is a snowflake I chase – I can neither ascribe the tragedies of my life to destiny nor accept any meaningful story that it weaves – I chase the translucence that poetry offers, to ‘be’.”

Geetika, with her five titles in English poetry, The Lost Sonnet and Other Poems, Yonder, Nothingness at Boiling Point, Lucid Blood and Crooked Hyphens, is working on two new volumes of verse in Hindi and English at present. This determined daughter of our soil, with her vision to place Jammu on the global map of literature, has been playing a vital role in inspiring the youth to pick up pens and become voices for change.
