Beerwah in central Kashmir shuts

Srinagar, Aug 16: Life was on Thursday was affected due to strike on the death anniversary of four youths, allegedly killed in security force firing, official sources said.

Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road in Beerwah town and adjoining area. Work in government offices and banks besides educational institutions was affected due to strike.

On this day, two years ago, four youths, identified as Manzoor Ahmad Lone, Javid Ahmad , Javid Ahmad Sheikh and Mohammad Ashraf Wani, were killed when security forces allegedly opened fire.

There was no report of any untoward incident, they said.

Situation elsewhere in the Badgam district was normal.
