Perception surveys important, need to be taken seriously: Omar

Srinagar, July 22: Reacting to reports that Swiss number one squash player refused to travel to India to take part in World Championship in Chennai, former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said this is why perception surveys, however uncomfortable they may be to read, are important and need to be taken seriously instead of dismissing them as misplaced propaganda.

In a huge embarrassment to India, Swiss number one squash player, Ambre Allinckx, refused to travel to India for safety reasons.

This comes just days after a report by Thomson Reuters Foundation said India was the most unsafe place for women across the world.

In the poll that was published last month, India was declared the most dangerous country in the world for women, even worse than the war-torn Afghanistan, Syria and Somalia.
