RASANA TRIAL Executive Magistrate’s jurisdiction questioned

JAMMU: In the latest development in the ongoing trial in Rasana minor rape-and-murder case at Pathankot, the defense counsel today raised questions on the jurisdiction of an Executive Magistrate who had recorded the statements of the witnesses.

Defense Lawyer A K Sawhney, in an ambiguous manner, said that the Executive Magistrate violated territorial jurisdiction act.

Pin pointing his query in this regard, Sawhney said that an Executive Magistrate Jammu recorded the statements of the witnesses of Kathua district.

“How is it possible - an Executive Magistrate from Jammu recorded the statements of witnesses from Kathua,” he questioned.

“The objections in this connection are to be filed before the court,” he said.
