Holy Mace to reach cave on August 26 for final 'darshan'

Srinagar, Jul 16: The “Chhari Mubarak”, the holy Mace of Lord Shiva, will be taken to Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas on August 26, the concluding day of 60-day-long pilgrimage which commenced from June 28 from traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal tracks simultaneously.

The age-old rituals associated with the annual pilgrimage will commence from July 27 when Chhari Mubarak will be taken to Pahalgam, where ‘Bhoomi-Pujan’, ‘Navgrah Pujan’ and ‘Dhawajarohan’ shall be performed on the auspicious occasion of ‘Ashad-Purnima’ (Vyas-Purnima).

Giving details Mahant Deependra Giri, custodian of holy Mace said after performing rituals at Pahalgam the charri will return back to Shri Amareshwar Temple Dashnami Akhara Srinagar in the evening of July 27 .





He said later Chhari-Mubarak shall be taken to historic Shankracharya Temple on August 11 and Sharika Bhawani Temple on August 12 before rituals are performed for Chhari-Sthapana at Shri Amareshwar Temple Dashnami Akhara Srinagar on August 13 2018.



After performing Chhari-Pujan at Dashnami Akhara Srinagar on the occasion of ‘Nag-Panchami’ on August 15, 2018, Mahant Giri shall carry the Holy Mace to Holy Shrine to have ‘Darshan’ on ‘Shravan-Purnima’, on August 26 after having night halts at Pahalgam on August 20 and 21, Chandanwari on 22, Sheshnag on August 23 and Panchtarani on 24th and 25th respectively.



In a communication sent to the State Government, Mahant Giri has urged the State Government to make all the necessary arrangements and take the appropriate preventive measures for the safety and security of the Sadhus & pilgrims accompanying Holy Mace.



Mahant has also advised sadhus and members of civil society who intend to join cavalcade of Holy Mace to get themselves registered as only registered pilgrims with valid Yatra Permit having start date of 23.08.2018 from Chandanwari route shall be allowed to accompany Chhari-Mubarak during the pilgrimage.



Mahadev Gir Dashnami Akhara Trust, Srinagar has made all the arrangements like yesteryear for Sadhus, coming from across the country for annual pilgrimage for their food and comfortable stay at Akhara Building, Budshah Chowk, Srinagar.
