Rs 32 lakh cash, property papers found at ARTO house in VO raids

JAMMU: In a raid at the residence of an official of Motor Vehicles Department, the Vigilance Organisation claimed to have recovered Rs 32 lakh in cash and papers pertaining to various properties and business partnerships.
The State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has raided the home of Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Shopian. The recoveries include cash of Rs 32 lakh in addition to Rs 99 thousands of the old discarded currency.
They also recovered gold worth Rs 10 lakhs, informed sources told Kashmir Life. What surprised sleuths was the recovery of a licensed pistol and 47 rounds. Other recoveries include ownership documents of plots in Punjab and Chadoora (Budgam). Various bank checkbooks and passbooks were also recovered.
The raid was carried out at Abdul Majid Bhat (son of Khazir Mohammad), the ARTO Shopian’s residence at Bagh-e-Mehtaab.
Later the Vigilance Organisation Kashmir raided the residence of Haji Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat (son of Ghulam Mohamad) at Heri Parigam. Haji is ARTO’s brother-in-law. Basically the ARTO, sources said lives in Charsoo village.
Haji and ARTO jointly own a Cardboard factory with the name S S L. It is located at Hari Parigam. The sleuths seized documents of the factory, five bank passbooks belonging to Gh Mohiuddin and one in the name of the ARTO. They also seized as many as 10 ATM cards linked to these bank accounts.
Sources said the VOK have registered FIR No 25 stands against the person and in the investigations have started. SSP VoK led the sleuths who raided ARTO’s Bagh-e-Mehtaab residence, in the city outskirts.
