Notorious criminal slapped with Public Safety Act in JK's Samba, sent to jail

Jammu, Jul 15: A 33-year-old notorious criminal, arrested last week in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir after a long hunt, has been charged under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) and sent to jail, police said today.

Mohammad Hussain, a resident of Manohar Gopala who was wanted in nearly a dozen cases, was arrested from Basanter area on July 10 and was sent to sub-jail Hiranagar in Kathua district yesterday, a police spokesman said.

He said Hussain was the mastermind behind all organised crimes in Samba such as drug smuggling and cattle theft.

A total of 11 cases, mostly related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, are registered against him in the district," the spokesman said.

"Hussain was posing a serious threat to peace and tranquillity in the district," the spokesman said.
