Police arrest 4 gamblers from Srinagar, recovers stake money

Srinagar, July 15: Police claimed to have arrest four gamblers along with stake money from Rajbagh area of Srinagar.

The police spokesman said that they have arrested four gamblers and recovered the stake money of rupees 16,640 from the spot.

According to a statement “police on Saturday received an information from reliable sources that some persons are playing cards with stake money on board at Kurso Bund near Jehlum bund. On this information, a police party raided the spot and arrested four gamblers who were identified as Aijaz Ahmad Mir son of late Mohd Subhan resident of Indra Nagar at present Kuroo Rajbagh, Suhail Ahmad Bhat son of Shafaat Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Sheikh son of Habib-ul-lah Sheikh and Tariq Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Maqbool Malik, residents of Pandrethan. Stake money of rupees 16,640 and playing cards was recovered from the spot.

“A case FIR number 37/2018 has been registered in this regard and investigation has been taken up,” police said.
