Srinagar, Jul 15: Taking a dig at Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) for protesting at winter capital, Jammu, against former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti for stating that the Centre was trying to split her party Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah said did the saffron party think that people are fools and would not punish their (BJP) selective memory.
Taking to micro blogging site twitter Mr Abdullah said, “It didn’t matter when Army establishments were attacked all over Jammu, soldiers kidnapped & killed Amarnath yatris & tourists killed but suddenly @MehboobaMufti is enemy number one. The BJP thinks people are fools & won’t punish their selective memory”.
He was reacting to reports that the BJP activists protested, burnt Mehbooba Mufti’s effigy in Jammu for her statement against the Centre.
The BJP, after sharing power with PDP for more than three years, last month, pulled out from the coalition government headed by Mr Mufti, alleging discrimination with Ladakh and Jammu. However, after resignation as chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti alleged that the Centre was trying to split the PDP when four MLAs openly criticised the party leadership (Mehbooba) alleging nepotism.
However, yesterday the BJP held a demonstration at Jammu and burnt effigy of Mehbooba for her statement that Kashmir will witness more militancy if any attempt was made to split her PDP.
