DDC Rajouri reviews development works under various schemes

RAJOURI: The District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today reviewed of major road and bridge projects of GREF and PMGSY besides projects taken by JKPCC in the district and directed the concerned to ensure timely completion of these projects.
Important road projects including Rajouri-Kandi-Budhal, Saaj-Khokar Mohalla, Tain bridge-BG, Siar-Rajouri, Nowshera-Jhangar, Rajouri-Darhal, Darhal-Prori, Rajouri-Thanamandi and other roads were thoroughly discussed in the meeting. Meanwhile work on bridge projects like Dassal, MEC-Vidanta Ashram, Badala Mang-Panjpeer, Ghambir-Chamba and Ujjhan bridges were reviewed. It was informed that 14 KM stretch of Rajouri-BG road will be macadamized in current financial year.
The DDC directed the DGM JKPCC to restart work on MEC-Ashram bridge and Collector Defence was asked to take up the matter of transfer of 2.5 Kanals of defence land coming under alignment of Panjpeer-BadalaMang bridge so that work is initiated at earliest.
While responding to issue of encroachment along with GREF roads at multiple locations in the district the DDC asked OC GREF to furnish a detailed list of such encroachment along with geo-tagged locations for taking up anti-encroachment drive. Meanwhile he ordered constitution of committee comprising of ExEn PWD, OC GREF, concerned EO Municipality and Tehsildar for removal of encroachments alongside all roads in the district.
GREF authorities were also directed to put in place road safety furniture like crash barriers, delineators and cat eyes along with Rajouri-Poonch National Highway and other major roads to prevent road accidents.
Referring to the demand raised by public deputation from Darhal which met DDC earlier today the DDC directed the Xen PMGSY Budhal to take up macadamization work on Rajouri-Darhal road at earliest.
A string of issues regarding forest clearance, delayed land acquisition, court cases and delay in payment of land compensation were also discussed in the meeting. The DDC assured to look into these matters personally with concerned agencies for early redressal in order to ensure that no project of public importance get delayed leading to time and cost overrun.
The meeting was attended by ACR Abdul Qayoom Mir, CPO A H Choudhary, DGM JKPCC Shafqat Mir, ExEn PMGSY Rajouri Rajesh Bhagat, ExEn PMGSY Budhal Zubair Chouhary, AEEs and JEs of PMGSY divisions of the district and GREF OC.
