National Lok Adalat held across Jammu Division

JAMMU: On the direction of Chairman National Legal Services Authority and under the supervision of Patron-in-Chief and Executive Chairman J&K State Legal Services Authority, Justice Alok Aradhe, a National Lok Adalat was held in the District Court Complex, Janipur Jammu under the Chairmanship of Vinod Chatterji Koul, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Jammu.
A total number of ten benches were constituted at District Court Complex, Jammu. The first bench was presided over by V.C. Koul, Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, assisted by Haq Nawaz Zargar, 3rd Additional District & Sessions Judge, TADA/POTA Jammu and Tasleem Arief, Additional Sessions Judge, Anticorruption, Jammu.
The second Bench was presided over by M.L Manhas, Spl. Judge Anti-corruption, CBI Cases Jammu, assisted by Ranbir Singh Jasrotia, Additional District Judge, Matrimonial cases, Jammu and Sonia Gupta Spl. Judge Anti-Corruption, Jammu. The third Bench was headed by Bala Jyoti, Additional District Judge, Bank Cases Jammu, and assisted by Surinder Singh, City Judge Jammu.
The fourth Bench was headed by M.S. Parihar, 1" Addl. District & Sessions Judge Jammu, assisted by Jatinder Singh Jamwal, presiding Officer MACT Jammu. The fifth Bench was headed by Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate, and assisted by Madan Lal, Spl. Excise Magistrate, Jammu. The Sixth bench was headed by Kusum Lata Pandita, Sub Judge Jammu, and assisted Wangial Tsering, Forest Magistrate Jammu.
The seventh Bench was headed by Sudhir Khajuria, Spl. Electricity Mobile Magistrate, Jammu and assisted by Manjeet Rai, Spl. Mobile Magistrate P&T, Jammu.
The eighth Bench was headed by Som Lal, Sub Judge Special Mobile Magistrate Jammu (13FC), and assisted by Arti Devi, Munsiff JMIC Jammu. The ninth Bench comprised of Yahya Firdous Ahangar Spl. Railway Magistrate, Amit Sharma, Spl. Mobile Magistrate Traffic, Jammu and Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate, Traffic Jammu.
The tenth Bench comprised of Manoj Parihar, Spl. Municipal Magistrate Jammu, Swati Gupta, Sub-Registrar, Jammu and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu.
Cases of civil nature, criminal compoundable, petty offences, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, consumer cases, matrimonial cases, cases under 138 NIA, revenue, electricity, water, passenger tax and railway cases were taken up and settled in the Lok Adalat.
A total number of 7195 cases were taken up, out of which 6492 cases were disposed off/ settled. A total of Rs. 26,40,06,480 was settled in the Lok Adalat.
Lok Adalat Benches were also constituted at Tehsil Headquarters at Akhnoor, Bishnah and R.S. Pura which were presided over by respective Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committees.
At Udhampur, National Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of K.S Parihar (Pr. District & Sessions Judge Udhampur) today regarding different kind of cases under the direction of acting Chief Justice Alok Aradhe, High Court of J&K (Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority)
A total number of five benches were constituted in which 704 cases pertaining to different nature were taken up. Out of which 525 cases were settled.
An amount of Rs 55, 85,000 in MACT cases and Rs. 5,79,755 was realized in Bank cases and Rs.1,70,600 was imposed in criminal compoundable cases as a fine.
At Poonch, National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex Poonch today for amicable settlement of cases pertaining to courts of Principal District Judge, Sub Judge, CJM, Munsif, JMIC and Add. Spl. Mobile Magistrate and related to criminal compoundable offences, NI Act cases under section 138, Bank recovery, MACT cases, Matrimonial, Labour disputes cases, Electricity and water bills, Revenue cases, other civil cases etc.
Judicial Officers, Bar Members, Bank Employees, Employees from insurances companies, litigants and general public participated in the Lok Adalat.
Chairman DLSA Poonch Zabair Ahmed Raza (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge Poonch) inaugurated the Lok Adalat. He highlighted the importance of organising Lok Adalats in resolving public issues and stressed upon general public to come forward to take benefit of these Lok Adalat.
At district headquarters 2 benches were constituted wherein one bench was presided over by Zabair Ahmad Raza Principal Distt and assisted by Advocate S. Rajinder Singh whereas second bench was presided by Mohd Ashraf Khan CJM Poonch and assisted by Wajahat Kazmi District Mobile Magistrate (T) Poonch. At Surankote, a bench was presided by Muzaffar Iqbal Khan Sub-Judge and assisted by Sarfraz Nawaz Qureshi Additional Mobile Magistrate Surankote and at Mendhar bench was presided by Choudhary Riaz Ahmad Munsiff JMIC.
A total no of 745 cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat including civil, criminal, MACT, Bank Recovery, Pre-Litigation and other cases. Of these, 640 cases were settled by all the above mentioned benches by way of mediation, conciliation and compromise.
In civil cases an amount of Rs. 7.44 Lakh was settled, in MACT cases an amount of Rs 3.49 Lakh was awarded where as in Pre-litigation cases Rs 7.44 Lakh was recovered. In Criminal cases Rs. 45150 as fine was recovered. A total of 48 civil and 81 criminal cases were also decided.
At Rajouri, Lok Adalat pertaining to all types of cases was held at District Court Complex Rajouri under the chairman ship of Rajinder Sapru, (Add. Distt & Sessions Judge Rajouri).
To settle the cases in the Lok Adalat four benches were constituted. First bench was headed by Rajinder Sapru (Add. Distt & sessions judge Rajouri) assisted by Rajesh Sharma (Advocate). Second bench was headed by Riyaz Ahmed Mirza (CJM Rajouri) and assisted by Ajay Gupta (Advocate). Third bench was headed by Tabraiz Ahmed Qazi (Distt Judicial Mobile Magistrate) Rajouri, assisted by K.M Bhat (Advocate) and fourth bench was headed by Tehsildar Rajouri assisted by Junaid Hussain Choudhary (Advocate)
Similar benches were also constituted at Tehsil Level which was headed by the presiding officers of the respective courts. A total No. of 550 cases both Pre- Litigation and Post- Litigation Cases were taken up out of which 512 cases were disposed off. An amount of Rs 6315640 was settled besides 20 MACT cases were also taken up and 15 were settled and amount of Rs 6233000 was awarded as compensation.
Representatives of Banks, advocates of different insurance companies, bar members, PLVs, Staff members, Litigants and large numbers of peoples participated in this Lok Adalat.
Similarly, National Lok Adalat was organized by Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Ramnagar at Sub Judge Court Complex Ramnagar under the chairmanship of Sub Judge, Anjum Ara who is also a chairperson of TLSC Ramnagar.
A bench was constituted to hold the proceedings of Lok Adalat which was presided over by Sub Judge, Anjum Ara and assisted by Naib Tehsildar, Nassir Hussain Tak.
On the occasion Prosecuting Officer, Renu Rani and Senior Bar Members also participated in the Lok Adalat.
A total of 147 cases of civil and criminal nature were taken up in the Lok Adalat out of which 121 cases disposed off. A fine of Rs. 24250/- including traffic challans was realized and Rs. 337755/- was settled in bank cases.
