Karachi woman gets 2 years Jail

JAMMU: A Pakistani woman who had entered into Indian Territory without any valid permit and was found in restricted and protected area was today given two years imprisonment in violation of section 14-A of Foreign (Amendment) Act, 2004.

Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Chatterji Koul awarded two years imprisonment to 39-year-old Asma Fayaz Bhat of Karachi, Pakistan
The court observed that the evidence on record and also the admission of accused proved the charge against her beyond doubt.

“As such, accused is accordingly convicted for the commission of offence punishable under section 14-A Foreigners (Amendment) Act, 2004. She had entered into Indian Territory without any valid permit and was found in restricted area/protected area.

“Having regard to the circumstances of the case and her age, she is sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of two years and shall also be liable to pay a fine of Rs. 10,000 and in case of her default to pay the fine, she shall further undergo imprisonment for a period of three months,” Court said, adding that after completion of sentence necessary steps be taken for her deportation.
