JAMMU: The aftermath of what was a rare stay order- the first in Governor Vohra’s fourth regime- got by a cop against his transfer has put the State Police Headquarters into a very embarrassing situation as two officers of the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) are seen taking any choice to hold the office of AIG (Personnel), with verbal brawls taking place in PHQ in their bids to stake claim on the chair.

The ongoing tussle between the duo has become the talk of town, being discussed amid police and the associated spheres every now and then.

The two senior cops came face to face when Aftab Ahmed Kakroo, SSP was transferred from Police Headquarters (PHQ) to Crime Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters on June 29, and was Kakroo to swap his place of posting as AIG personnel PHQ, with Rajeshwar Singh SSP HR, CID Headquarters.

Barely four days later, Kakroo knocked the door of court and pleaded that his transfer has been made prematurely- only five months into his posting and got a stay order against government’s order.

It was then that he appeared in PHQ with the stay order against his transfer and occupied the chair leaving the incumbent official- Rajeshwar Singh in a state of surprise.

Singh, who had taken the take as AIG personnel PHQ barely two days and was out of his office for some assignments found his colleague sitting in his office chamber upon his return.

Meanwhile, DGP SP Vaid when contacted by The News Now over the issue said that Rajeshwar was on leave when latest move took place.

“SSP Rajeshwar was asked to go for one day leave by a senior cop on the pretext that the record files could be set in proper order by outgoing SSP Kakroo and when he resumed office the next day, he found former boss on chair,” said a senior police official at PHQ on anonymity’s condition.

The tussle between the two officers, however, is yet to die down as none of the two is ready to forego his right on the position, putting the PHQ is an embarrassing position.

While Singh cites the government order, Kakroo takes defence in the stay he had got on the said order.

A senior police officer confirmed the stay order.

“The court has directed to keep the order in abeyance. The Principal Secretary Home Department R K Goyal has been asked to file objections,” he said.

All attempts to contact Mr Goyal by this scribe to get his comments over the issue turned futile as he did not respond to repeated calls and SMS.

Meanwhile, an official in the Home Department informed The News Now that department has enough reasons to make Kakroo’s transfer effective.
