Asks SVO to submit monthly progress report

SRINAGAR: Rooting for launching a vigorous campaign for bringing the erring government officials to book, the Governor N N Vohra on Wednesday asked the State Vigilance Organisation to take up the cases of higher level functionaries first, while directing for a monthly progress report to be submit to him.

He made these observations during a meeting with Director Vigilance S J M Gillani, who called on him here, an official spokesman said after the meeting.

"Governor advised Gillani to prioritise the finalisation of pending enquiries and launch a vigorous campaign for the offenders to be brought to book, the cases of higher level functionaries being taken up among the first lot," the spokesman said

Gillani apprised Vohra about the present status of the work being done by the State Vigilance Organization.

He also informed the Governor about the pendency of cases, reasons for delay in the finalization of enquiries and the lodging of Challans, prolonged delays for conclusion of proceedings in the trial courts and inadequacy of staff in the prosecution Offices of the recently created Anti-Corruption Courts.
