DC Kargil orders inquiry after reports of toilet malfunctioning at DHK

KARGIL: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Vikas Kundal while expressing serious concern over the reports of malfunctioning of toilets and unauthorized parking near Casualty Block at District Hospital Kargil (DHK) today ordered an inquiry into the matter and also initiated strict action against defaulters.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report in this regard within a week’s time.
The order in this regard was issued in a meeting held here under the chairmanship of the DC especially convened to discuss the issues related to DHK.
The DC instructed for constitution of a committee comprising of the Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE and Mechanical divisions which would be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the provision of satisfactory facilities in the hospital.
The officers were asked to visit the hospital on weekly basis and work in tandem with the hospital management besides taking measures to resolve issues like providing of adequate drinking water facility, disposal of waste, sanitation and other related issues.
While discussing the issue of the deployment of Sweepers and Nursing Orderlies of DHK in other departments, the Deputy Commissioner issued on spot directions for cancellation of orders in this regard. He also directed the Medical Superintendent Kargil to ensure cleanliness in and around the hospital premises besides taking adequate measures to resolve the issue of unauthorized parking near the Casualty Block.
The DC also instructed the Chief Planning Officer Kargil to release Rs 50 thousand out of DC funds for cleanliness works in the District Hospital. Meanwhile, the DC asked Municipal authorities to deploy sweepers in adequate numbers to ensure satisfactory cleanliness in the hospital premises.
Kundal directed the PWD authorities to macadamize the approach road of DHK on priority basis so as to ease the movement of vehicles as well as patients, attendants and visitors.
The DC directed the concerned to submit a comprehensive proposal for repairs and renovation of heating system immediately so that the funds in this regard could be arranged accordingly.
The DC instructed MC authorities to construct two new toilets for District Hospital Kargil within a week.
Senior officers of Health, PWD, PHE, Mechanical, MC and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
