Vohra to review last day orders of PDP Ministers, gives bureaucracy ‘to-do’ list

High level administrative, security review meetings mark day one

JAMMU: If any of the Ministers belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party signed some crucial files, issued orders, or released funds when television screens beamed Ram Madhav announcing demise of the coalition, they are going to be in trouble –Governor Vohra has called list of all such decisions made on July 19.
Soon after, the Governor took the top administrative machinery in a huddle after which he handed them down with a list of ‘to do’ which mainly pertained to those issues which the Governor had long been flagging from the Raj Bhawan.
Appearing at serial number five there is a point of curiosity on the seven-point list of instructions, which could have political ramifications. The Governor has asked for “any orders issued by the departments on 19.06.2018”, to be placed on his table by 11AM Thursday.
It may be mentioned here that on Tuesday, June 6, the active political offices in the Civil Secretariat were only of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and the Ministers belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party.
In his meeting with the officers of civil administration and police, the Governor asked them to gear up the state administrative machinery to function with speed, efficiency and accountability. Vohra directed administrative secretaries and the DGP to ensure that all government functionaries attended office punctually and their presence was daily monitored through the bio-metric attendance system.
The administrative secretaries shall personally review and ensure prompt and efficient delivery of various public services to the people of the state; complaints regarding delays, irregularities and corruption must be dealt with most sternly and those responsible should be proceeded against without any fear or favour, he told the officers.
He asked the administrative secretaries to send him reports regarding the latest progress of Prime Minister's Development Programme 2015.
The governor also sought the latest status on the construction of bunkers in villages located along the International Border and Line of Control; timely payment of relief to the victims of border firing; status of preparations for holding panchayat and municipal elections and position regarding stocking and supply of food and other essential commodities by Food and Civil Supplies Department.
Vohra asked the Chief Secretary to forward by tomorrow department-wise lists of all pending cases with remarks regarding the reasons for delay.
Meanwhile, Northern Army commander Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, called on the governor and discussed the security situation in the state.
The Governor and the Army commander discussed issues regarding the need for very close coordination in security management in the Valley, particularly keeping in view the need to ensure against co-lateral damage in counter-terrorist operations.
