JAMMU: Ever since the news of BJP pulling out of PDP-headed coalition government came out Tuesday afternoon, the Social media was laced with poetry, memes, and jokes as people reacted to what was arguably the biggest political development of the year.

Interestingly, almost all of these posts scattered over Facebook and Twitter marked sort of celebrations even as Whatsapp groups were flooded with 'Mubarak' messages extended by the people of Jammu as well as in Kashmir.

While some enacted Ghalib to say ‘Bahut Be-aabru Hoke Tere Kooche Se Hum Nikle..’, some even modified the age-old Hindi adage to say, ‘..Na Ghar Ka Na Delhi Ka..’ to express their happiness over the surprising fall out between the two partners.

Some even had words of advice for the ministers in the coalition government.

“All those ministers who were fond of attending review meetings would do well if they start reviewing their performances as MLA's,” a senior journalist who works with a National newspaper in Jammu wrote on his Facebook profile.

Responding to his post, a retired IAS officer- K B Jandial said, “They will lose.”

Mohammad Shafiq Chak, Mission Director, Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), J&K wrote ‘Alhamdulillah’, meaning ‘Thank God.’

A serving senior bureaucrat of the state was quick to react, “Woh Afsana Jise Anjam Tak Lana Na Ho Mumkin Usey Ek Khubsurat Mod Dekar Chhodna Achchha ??”

Whatsapp groups were also abuzz today with messages like 'Mubarak sab ko, BJP pulls out' (Mubarak to all, BJP pulls out), 'der aye, darust aye' as people, specifically from Jammu region which gave historic 25 seats to BJP in 2014.

While people expressed their happiness citing ‘the alliance with PDP was never in its interest’, some of them also said that it will not be easy for BJP to get away with just that.

“Even the BJP has a lot of explaining to do in JK. Thousands of FIR in the Amarnath Agitation remain unpardoned, and admission of a ‘growing sense’ of regional discrimination and failure of Ceasefire under this coalition was very slow in coming. Proved very expensive,” Manu Khajuria, a social activist tweeted.

With governor rule being recommended in the state, incumbent N N Vohra was also a subject of numerous posts on social media.

Vohra who extended term was coming to an end later this month, was hailed by many, even as people speculated his replacements.

“Kismat Ho Toh N N Vohra Si Ho,” remarked a senior journalist of an Social Media flooded...

English Daily in Jammu, pointing towards the possibility of yet another extension for him.

This will be the fourth instance of Governor Rule under Vohra ever since his appointment in the state in the year 2008.
