Home Minister briefs PM on security situation in J&K
New Delhi, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a crucial and high level meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh here on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially in view of escalated violence in the militancy-hit state.
At the meeting, the Home Minister is understood to have briefed the Prime Minister on the security situation in Kashmir.
In the presence of top civil and military security officials, including from several official agencies, Mr Modi reviewed the situation in the state, especially on the suspension of operations during the holy month of Ramzan.
The meeting assumes significance, as it took place in the backdrop of recent killings, including that of veteran Jammu and Kashmir-based Editor Shujaat Bukhari in Srinagar.
One security personnel Rifleman Aurangzeb of 44 Rashtriya Rifles was also abducted and killed.
The Prime Minister was also briefed about the security for two-month Amarnath Yatra, which begins on June 28, sources said.
