Pakistan never maintained sanctity of ceasefire : ADG BSF

Jammu, June 13: Reacting to ceasefire violation by the Pakistan, ADG, BSF, Jammu Frontier, Kamal Nath Choubey on Wednesday said that Pakistan never maintained the sanctity of the ceasefire.

"Ceasefire is always a bilateral decision, we have always maintained the sanctity of ceasefire but Pakistan has not and violated it," Mr Choubey here told the reporters that at the sidelines of wreath laying ceremony of four BSF personnel martyred in ceasefire violations.

" Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level and sector commander level meetings were held and it was agreed upon to maintain ceasefire but Pakistan never maintained the sanctity," Mr Choubey said.

The ADG said that it is very unfortunate that the ceasefire announcements were made and decisions taken, adding, "we always honoured it but what Pakistan has done was their business and how we respond to the betrayals is our job."

"Ceasefire or no ceasefire, we are always prepared. There is no let up in border surveillance, border dominations," said the BSF officer and added, "every instrument, which is required to protect territorial integrity of the border is maintained regardless of ceasefire or no ceasefire."

"We will maintain the dominance and of course, lodge protest," he added.

Mr Choubey further said, ''Our present focus is the ceasefire violations especially when the flag meeting was held.''
