Heavy rain is likely at isolated place on June 13 in Tripura: ICAR

Udaipur, Jun 13: It is the warning that heavy rain is likely at isolated place on June 13 in Tripura and need to maintain good drainage in the field to protect the crop from water logging, said ICAR in the Agromet Advisory Bulletin.

It has also informed by ICAR that weather may generally be cloudy and light to medium rain may occur in one or two places till June 17. Heavy rain is expected at isolated place on June 13. Day and night temperature may vary from 28 to 32 and 25 to 26 degrees respectively. Wind may high and mostly south easterly with average speed of 12 km per hour. Humidity may vary from 72 to 96 per cent.

The ICAR report said rainfall during June is most likely to be above normal in the state Tripura. Rainfall during rest of the monsoon season i.e. July to September is also like to be above normal. Probable impact of long range forecast on crop cultivation aman in lowland condition is going to suffer from water logging condition. Submersible variety may be chosen for those fields.

The report said, the seedlings just after transplanting may also suffer under water logging condition. Keep seedling in seedbed for longer period to grow up before transplanting. Go for community nursery and also keep alternative nursery ready for use in case of crop failure. Maintain good drainage in the field of Upland maize and groundnut.
