Jammu, June 13: Four BSF officers, including an Assistant Commandant, attained martyrdom on Wednesday as Pakistan fired unprovoked and shelled forward posts along International Border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district.

"Pakistani Rangers late night on Tuesday violated the ceasefire by firing unprovoked and targeting our posts," BSF official sources here said.

They said that own troops also retaliated effectively and in exchange of fire, four BSF men attained martyrdom and five suffered injuries.

The martyred BSF men were identified as Assistant Commandant Jatinder Singh, Sepoy Hans Raj, ASI Ram Niwas and SI N Jantal.

The injured jawans have been hospitalised. "Intermittent firing was still on," they added.

This was the second major ceasefire violation after May 29 Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Level meeting wherein it was agreed by both the forces to maintain calm along borders.
