Govt goes tough, directs GREF to blacktop on Bani road or face ire

JAMMU: Having completed earth work about five years back on Sarthali to Dhaggar bridge road Bani in district Kathua, the GREF Camp Bani failed to do black topping, causing respiratory problems to the people of the area in general and students of the area in particular. Sensing the gravity of the situation, the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Bani went tough against the GREF authorities and issued strict order asking either to do black topping or face authorities’ ire.

The order has also been issued eighteen days before the historical Chinj Mela scheduled to be held at Bani from 20th to 27 June 2018.

As per order issued to the OIC 485 RMPL GREF Camp Bani 69 RCC, the Tehsildar Bani has said that the said road stretch which has been over looked by the GREF after doing earth work, has posed serious threat to the life of the people in the shape of dust and accidents.

“Whereas the bad condition of road has increased not only accidents during rain fall but also number of respiratory problems to the public due to the dust. Whereas Govt Degree College Bani, Higher Secondary School Bani, Govt High School Bani, Government Boys School Bani and other students of the schools are being made to the subject of respiratory problems due to the bad condition of road.

“You are therefore directed to clear the nuisance by black topping the stretch of road within 15 days or to appear in the court of Executive Magistrate, Bani on 28th May 2018 and to show cause why this order should not be enforced,” said the order.
