Minor boy battles for life in SKIMS

Kashmir, May 21: A 9-year-old boy, Rizwan Ahmad Kaboo, who was critically injured on Saturday after CRPF troops allegedly opened fire on a group of protesters at Arampora area of Sopore in Baramulla district, is battling for his life in SKIMS Soura since the last two days.

Officials said that the CRPF men used tear smoke shells, fired some rubber bullets and few aerial shots after a group of youth threw stones on their vehicle near Arampora at around 7:15 pm on Saturday. Kaboo, son of Reyaz Ahmad Kaboo of Arampora Sopore sustained head injuries in the incident. He was immediately rushed to sub-district hospital Sopore. A doctor who treated the minor at SDH Sopore said that the boy was hit by a “rubber bullet” in his head and was later referred to SKIMS Soura for specialized treatment.

SSP Sopore, Javid Iqbal said the minor was injured in the retaliatory action after the CRPF vehicle was attacked by stone pelters at Arampora. “We have registered a case and taken up further investigations,” he said
