Boy injured in security force action in north Kashmir

Srinagar, May 20: A minor boy was injured when security forces burst teargas shells and opened fire on stone pelting demonstrators in apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Saturday evening, official sources said.

They said a group of youths pelted stones on security force vehicle at Arampora, Sopore, in Baramulla. Security forces burst teargas shells and later fired rubber bullets.

Security forces also fired in the air to chase away the demonstrators, they said, adding that a nine-year-old boy Rizwan Ahmad was injured after being hit by a rubber bullet in the head.

The injured was immediately rushed to local hospital from where he was referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).

Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the incident.
