In Jammu, PM Modi lauds Dogras’ heroism, patience

Inaugurates Pakal Dul HEP, new Vaishno Devi track, Jammu ring-road

JAMMU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today hailed the Dogras-people of Jammu Region for their heroism and patience, as he laid the foundation of the Rs 8,100-crore Pakal Dul hydroelectric power project, besides formally inaugurating the Tarakote track to the Vaishno Devi shrine and launching a Rs 2,023-crore Jammu ring road plan.

“This is Dogra land, which is famous for the qualities of its Dogra community people and they are popular for heroism and patience,” Modi acknowledged in his address at Zorawar Singh Auditorium, the venue from where the Jammu region projects were formally launched.

Modi, who reached the venue at an hour’s delay from his schedule began his 24 minutes speech in Dogri saying, “Mandiren De Shaer Jammu Bech Main Aaj Aaya Aan, Te Mera Mataa Mataa Swagat Kitaa,Tus Bade Kismat Aale O Jede Ithe Roa Karde Ho” (Today I came to the city of temples and you welcomed me warmly, you people are too lucky that you are living in this city), drawing applause from the gathering.

"I seek an apology for you all for being late in view of this chain of programmes. This day is very important for Jammu and Kashmir. This is my fourth programme today,” he said.

Though it was PM’s fourth event in a row at Jammu and Kashmir, he did not spoke anything political and refraining from commenting on yesterday’s killing of civilians and BSF soldier in heavy Pakistan firing, whereas he confined his speech on the development and growth of the state.

The PM said that water and its resources will provide developmental pace to Jammu and Kashmir and today he is satisfied that he has inaugurated a water related project, while laying foundation stone of another in one visit to the state.

He added that J&K is going to produce more and more power in near future and central government is spending Rs 8000 crore on power projects and people of this area will get employment too.

Saying that his government is working on connectivity of roads as well as heart in the state of J&K, Modi said that there are number of options for tourism in the state, which also provides employment to youth and both central and state governments are working on this.

“We are working with new approach of isolation to integration. From Northeast to J&K, I always try to reach as many times I can, because I want growth and development in J&K, so that this area will become new India and others states will follow it,” said Modi and added he comes in J&K as PM for several times, but he stayed here for long and got much love from this land and people.

He also mentioned Ring Road projects as vibrant projects for Jammu and Srinagar cities and said that when it completes, a new Jammu will be developed on both sides of the ring road.

PM also mentioned about his satisfaction over the much-publisized Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in which he said he felt happy after knowing that a 87-year-old lady and a 5-year-old girl in this state are working on this project for cleanliness.

Modi also concluded his speech in Dogri saying, “Migi Mata Rani Fer Jaldi Bulaag” (May Mata Vaishno again calls me soon)
